Marathon gives us access to several completely different kinds of fishing.

We can work the reefs and wrecks or leave them behind and head into blue water.

For grouper, we're fishing structure.

That makes grouper fishing a good fit for anglers who want a hard-pulling fish without automatically committing to a long offshore run.

What Is Grouper Fishing Like?

When a grouper eats, the first part of the fight matters.

These fish live around structure, and they're not interested in making things easy on you.

There's no need to make it more complicated than that.

You feel the bite, put pressure on the fish, and try to keep it coming your way.

It's hands-on Florida Keys fishing and a good time whether you've been fishing for years or you're just learning.

The reef is a big part of fishing out of Marathon.

Grouper share this water with fish including snapper, mackerel, barracuda, and other reef species.

Wrecks give us another type of structure to work.

Where we fish on a particular trip depends on the conditions, what you've booked, and what Captain Johnny has been seeing.

That's where more than 30 years of fishing these waters comes into play.

Is Grouper Fishing Good for Families?

It can be a great option.

Our Half Day Fishing trips can include reef and wreck fishing for grouper, snapper, sharks, and other species depending on what's biting.

A half day works well for families, first-time anglers, and anyone who wants to get some fishing in without giving up the entire day.

If you want more time to work different areas, book the full day.

Half Day or Full Day for Grouper?

A Half Day Fishing trip gives us time to fish reef and wreck water while keeping the charter easy to fit into a Florida Keys vacation.

A Full Day Fishing trip gives Captain Johnny more time to work different areas and adjust as the day develops.

If you're not sure which one fits your group, call us.
